Peter, these two zip files correspond to the contents of (two) DVD's. Unzip both files in the same directory and you should end up with two sub-directories, DISK1 and DISK2. Drill down DISK1 to find the DISKTAG.INF file.

Fire up Installation Manager and navigate through FILE > PREFERENCES > ADD REPOSITORY. Click on the BROWSE button and navigate/select the above INF file.

Whilst you're in the REPOSITORIES panel, check the "Search service repositories during installation and updates" Leave this unticked so as to avoid the IBM verification that is tripping you up at the moment.

Also, if you already have IM up to date, check that FILE > PREFERENCES > UPDATES is also unticked so to avoid IM checking for updates of itself.

Once you're done, follow through the INSTALL option on the main IM panel. (NOTE: RDi 9.6. is not an update of 9.5. - it's a fresh install of a new version.)

Hope this helps.

Brian.

Thanks Eric...I have two zip files: RDi_Core_product_1_V9.6.0_LCD8_1991_04.zip and RDi_Core_product_2_V9.6.0_LCD8_1991_04.zip  for the upgrade from 9.5 (I haven't grabbed the fixpack yet) Do I unzip and run direct from the contents or is IM still in the mix?

Just to clarify...

When you click Update in IBM Installation Manager, it checks the default
IBM servers for updates.  This is what has an issue currently.

You can still download zip versions of any fixpacks from FixCentral.  The
RDi Fix List has links:

Hi Pete,

There currently is an issue being investigated for the IBM servers which
provide the updates.

Thanks,
Eric

Time to get updated in my RDi world, so I went to installation manager
which is now asking me for a user name and password. No problem! I
have had an IBM user name and password that hasn't changed since the
dawn of time..but it doesn't work. I can sign into any password
protected website that IBM has with the user name and password but not
by clicking on "Update". So I manually updated installation manager
to what I think is current (1.8.9 ?) but still no joy....

I have downloaded the RDi version 9.6 zip files from ESS but as soon as
I click "update" in installation manager, I am prompted for my IBM user
name and password. I thought there was a way to unzip the files to a
folder and install using IM but I can't get past the prompt.....

Just trying to update RDi...nothing fancy. But, nothing is easy any
more when it comes to IBM websites...
