Good to know. I always assumed the native Windows unzip took relatively the same amount of time.

We are a small shop (2 guys) on Windows 7 and 10... so the web install is just fine.

+1.

Just ran a rough test - it took just under 8mins for 7Zip to extract one of the (two) RDi 9.6 .ZIP files. That was done on an external HDD - so would have been quicker on an internal HDD or SSD.

Extracting a zip with 7zip is SO much faster that the "native"
unzipper (on Windows at least).   Once I saw the difference, I never
make the mistake of unzipping with whatever Microsoft calls it's
archive tool....that might account for the slowness if you aren't
using 7zip.

The install was night/day different. Downloading the images didn't
take that long, but extracting the zip files had an estimate of 1
hour plus for each of them.

Copying the workspace was great also.

It would just be nice to have a short, concise (i.e. one page of
bullet points) step-by-step on how to do this - I somehow think this
would be a monumental task for IBM (LOL).  It's been a while, but I
vaguely recall similar frustrations with a previous install.

Maybe this is a bigger hurdle to SEU users than you think?
