Still, there is a "Check for updates" option.  When I click that it tells me there are updates.  I then use "IBM Installation Manager" and it tells me there are no updates.  With some software I have noticed that updates for existing features are available but new features require money.

Booth, the "Check for updates" option is checking the Eclipse plug-in repository for updates ... not IBM's Installation Manager repository.

The Check for Updates option is seeing if any of the plug-in's you have installed (almost all of Eclipse is plug-in's) have updates.

The Installation Manager is checking for updates to the RDi product as a whole (which probably updates the included plug-in's).

TBH, I wouldn't update the plug-in's by themselves for fear of breaking something that RDi depends on. It's happened to me in the past.
