Re: [WDSCI-L] RDi 9.6 available in a week

That sounds as if a floating license could end up being a real
bargain Eric - can you really go on using it in perpetuity picking
up fixes and new versions whenever they come out?

Surely there has to be some time limit on it?

Tim,

Floating licenses are different than the authorized user license. They

Thanks,

Jon/Eric,

I think that's true of all licenses. None are specific to the version--as
long as you've paid the Software Maintenance Agreement (SWMA). When a new
release comes out, the license transfers. It just requires a current
activation kit.

Tim,

The SWMA concept is hardly a scandalous requirement to get a new version.
It's pretty much the standard in the software industry. For instance if
you buy a license to MS-Word, it's for the version you buy. There aren't
too many software products which just keep giving away the new versions.
(And honestly, all the software products end up with bug fixes in the new
release as well as the new features. So you can't pin that as unfair for
RDi to do the same.)
