I have to agree with all of Buck's sentiments - except why the heck do the updates in the RPG/400?

Having been part of the team that spent many many months making sure that there were as close to zero incompatibilities between the two compilers as possible in order to make it easy for people to convert without fear it really pains me to see people wasting time and money living in the past. It has been close to 25 years for goodness sake.

And yes JDE I do include you and all the other cheapskate ISVs who keep their customers in the dark ages.

There - I feel better now!

Do you believe that RDi does not like source type RPG & works only on RPGLE

I personally feel it is a matter of professional ethics to try to
persuade an employer to stop maintaining RPG III code. But not every
employer believes we are professionals.

My advice to you is to create an RDi user command to implement
CVTRPGSRC. Open up that RPG III member, run CVTRPGSRC on it, and then
open the RPG IV member at the same time. Use the modern analysis
tooling on the RPG IV member, and edit the RPG III member. After a few
edits, the two members will be out of synch, and you'll have to close
the RPG IV, run CVTRPGSRC, and re-open the RPG IV to look at the
'current' version.

Ctrl-F6 will bounce between the two edit windows so you won't have to
keep using the mouse to change focus.

Good luck!
