I am currently using "i Projects", and I submit off all my compiles in a few clicks....

That compile listing give me all the compiler errors in a single Error listing! Very handy and convenient.

I am testing on a separate partition. After I am done with my testing, I can change the "pointer" to my normal development box, and push and compile there!

(Actually the Project Property: "Iproject" and pick the connection. Development/QA/PRODUCTION/test-partition)

iProjects is an awesome toolset in RDI, but it is NOT for NEWBIES. It takes a little learning, since the "Master-COPY" is on your PC, not the IBM i. But that has many advantages.

Just depends on your scenario.

And I set my saved "previous source" version to 60-days. So I can compare to my previous version in iProjects.

windows > Preferences > iProject > Build and Compile --> "Days to keep temporary files on Remote System:"

From iProject, I can compare to my previous versions by Date/time! Pretty cool.

Sadly, most RPG developers don't use iProject that much, when it could be a very valuable tool in their tool belt!

The best way to learn is from a PRO, there are training session out there. One of my favorites it the "RSE JUMP START" series. High recommend that one!!!

Sadly, I learn from the Old Method, called "Trial & Error". Also known as the school of hard knocks.

The remote Reconciler is an awesome tool to Push/Pull source from your IBM i. I wonder if anyone has create a "FREE" video on this...

People from a visual Studio environment, are probably more familiar with this concept. Since they pull the source from the Server to their Local PC to work on. And then they PUSH their work back up the server. Basically the same concept!
