Kenneth,

When I start up RDi 9.5.1.2 with the "-Clean" option when I boot my computer, it takes as long as 7-minutes. When I restart it during the day for crashes with the "-Clean" option it usually takes under 1.5 - 3 minutes...

I cannot help but to wonder if it trying to update through the web or something. I often get errors in my Error Log like this:

Error reading help table of contents file /"org.eclipse.emf.workspace.doc/topics_Reference.xml" (skipping file)

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=460227
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=460229

Anyway, I am suggesting that your check the view: "error Log" for some possible indications of problems. It is possible, that might give you an indication of under lying problems. It is worth a shot!

Ctrl+3 > type in "Error Log" without the quotes. Note: Ctrl+3 is the shortcut for the Quick-Access! Really great little tools to find things in RDI 9.5, instead of searching through Preferences.

Just a guess, but maybe it is trying to do updates? Maybe someone who is more knowledgeable can provide a better answer.

PS. Another user had over 25-windows open, and was wondering why their Windows was so slow... <LOL> Depends on what you are doing, and how much horse power and/or memory you have on your PC/MAC. <grin>
Surface Pros/Apple Macs have a SSD, which is must faster than old spinning HDD.

Long time ago, I reset my help to Off-Line, which had speed up my RDI 9.5.1.2 performance. But with Technology Refreshes coming out, it is sort of nice to have access to the last/greatest documentation!

Subject: [WDSCI-L] Startup delayed by org.eclipse.debug.ui

We've noted lately in our RDi installs that it takes some time for the application to start up. What is common across all these is when it is on the IBM Rational Developer for i 9.5.1 screen. In the lower left of the window it shows what it is loading. When it gets to org.eclipse.debug.ui, it suddenly stops for as long as three minutes. Afterwards it completes the startup and you are able to use the product. Then there are other times it flies through this and the startup takes anywhere between 10 and 15 seconds. Does anyone have any idea why loading this particular UI causes this?
