That just seemed silly to me - and it WAS pretty confusing, since lots of stuff had nothing to do with WAS.

another there was insufficient penetration of information. Many years
ago, our sysadmin did mention that we had something called Websphere.
But I don't think he nor our manager really understood everything that
entailed, and I sure as hell had no idea. I was still pretty new to
the AS/400. It never occurred to any of us that there could be an IDE
for RPG in there. (At the time, I was still adjusting to using Client
Access instead of the dumb terminal I was used to at my previous job.)

People around here didn't want to get involved with everything a WebSphere
Server would have required. When the product was renamed (oh my, am I
really saying IBM did the right thing renaming something related to our
system?) to Rational Developer, that objection was put to rest.
