The version I was using Mike was less than 3 months old and was installed/updated when I first loaded the RDi for Mac beta.

I would not have thought that counted as “older” but …

The older IM's (pre 1.8 IIRC) are not able to connect to the repository so
they can't check to tell you. So the best thing in most cases is to get IM
to update itself to the latest as you have done.

Solved!

Just for the record - it appears that IM is unable to tell you that the
repository requires a higher level of IM than the one you are using.

It was an almost new install of IM so I didn’t check before starting. After
the failures I decided to have IM check for updates and sure enough there
was one.

Had IM update itself and magically the invisible, unreachable repository
appeared!

Dear IBM - could IM’s error reporting be improved just a teeny bit? I
shouldn’t have to guess if IM updates are needed or not - surely it could
have told me!

According to IBM the repository for Installation Manager to use for 9.5.1
is:

https://www.ibm.com/software/repositorymanager/com.ibm.rational.developer.ibmi.v95

But it will not work for me.

Is the IBM system down or is there a misprint in the repository URL?
