The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.

Funny thing is, when I am in RDi and I pull up the spooled files
view, anything I view from there has a Ctrl-F find function that works
just fine. I don't know where I got my Spooled Files view. Any way to
tell?
--------------------------------------------------------
For the avoidance of doubt, there are THREE possible Spooled Files
subsystems that I am aware of:
1). SPOOLED FILES. This is an IBM-supplied subsystem, integral to RDi.
However, I understand it was only ever developed as a "personal project" by
one of the developers and provided on an "as-is" basis. OK at a pinch, but
not as rich in function as the other options. NOTE: At RDi 9.5.0.3 an
enhancement was added to link with the Access Client Solutions (ACS) Printer
Output function, (right click to Launch). The ACS facility has some nice
touches, but launches (slowly) as a quite separate process, requiring a
further sign-on. There isn't the same level of integration with RDi as with
Options 2). and 3)., (e.g. the ability to open a spooled file in the text
editor).
2). IBM i SPOOLED FILES. Part of the RSE Extensions plug-in provided by
Softlanding. Works just fine, but hasn't been enhanced for a few years and
lacking now in some functions, (e.g. no PDF support).
3). iSPHERE SPOOLED FILES. As the name suggests, this is part of the iSphere
plug-in. The iSphere guys incorporated the Softlanding tool and added some
extra features. Works very well and is my personal preference, however it
does require that the iSphere library be installed on the server. (Options
1). and 2). do not require any host software.) Big "plus" is the on-going
support and development of the iSphere tooling.
I hope this helps.
