Maybe c-a-s-r is assigned to something else. I tried c-a-t for
keyRecorderStop and that worked in my copy of 9.5.

I debugged this by choosing Window > Show Toolbar and observing the
icons for Keystroke Record and Playback while I tried various
combinations. It seemed clear to me that 'Record' was working, because
the icon went from green to red. I could tell that 'playback' was
working because it played back a sequence I'd recorded by clicking on
those icons. Which left 'stop recording' as the culprit. Assigning a
different keystroke sequence to keyRecorderStop did the trick, verifying
my hunch.

I never thought I'd write this, but those icons were helpful! Now to
hide them all again, lol Windows > Hide Toolbar.
