Hi Ken,
The emulator is based on Host On Demand rather than Personal
Communications.
It has some advantages and some disadvantages.
When you open an emulator it has 2 tabs (on the bottom of the window) and
it automatically switches you to the second tab "Host Connection". Switch
to the first tab "Host Properties" to see all the things you can configure.
Agreed that colour and font are not among the configurable properties.

If you go to the Eclipse Navigator view, you will see what is going on
under the covers. I.e. we are creating .hce files in the
HostConnectProjectFiles project for each RSE connection. Nothing is
stopping you from creating more of these. (Can also be down through Host
Connection File wizard) But you can only open one Host Connect Editor
per .hce files.

HTH
Edmund

RDi 9.5 emulator is not bad for this first pass. I seem to like the stand
alone better. Maybe I am use to it... <Head held low in shame>

I don't seem to find a way to change the font or colors. Oh well, I am
probably missing that...

Still like the option to be able to open an emulator inside of RDI, that is
sort of cool!

I still cannot believe the little extra "zippiness" and better response
than RDi 9.5 has. It could be imagined by me. I hope someone else will
confirm the better performance!

Subject: RDi 9.5 Terminal/emulator

Wow! I have been able to open a 5250 terminal/emulator inside of RDI!

Some good design thought was put into this! On the view: "Terminals" it say
the following:
To open a terminal, right-click the Terminal subsystem under the target.
Then select 'Launch Terminal' from the context menu.

Cool, a little helpful advice is always appreciated in my book! Thanks IBM!

It seems that it is called "Host Connection Emulator", not "Launch
Terminal".
I must assume only session is allowed, because I cannot open a second
one... <smirk>

So far, I am delightfully impressed! <Joy Joy>

I can tell that the RDI team has put a LOT of hard work and effort into
this release!
<Big Smile>

Cool, I found the formatting options...
Window>Preference>Remote Systems>Remote Systems LPEX>IBM I Parsers>ILE
RPG>Formatter....

You can change the number of spaces to indent. I knew it was thee some
where. I have Developer friends who do not have a 3rd party inventor like
Linoma. So, this will be good to share!

RDi 9.5 built in indenter, Ctrl+Shift+F, is not too bad. It is not perfect,
and pretty good for the first pass...

It gets just a smidge confused when trying to indent code with right hand
comments. No biggie, but different.

Sadly, because it updates the indent, it also updates all the source dates
too...

I like the Linoma RPG Tool box/plug in, it has the option *NOT* to update
the source dates, when just updating the code indentation. And since it has
been doing code indentation a lot longer, it is more refined.

But, my test run of the built indenter is a lot better than no indenter!
This will be an excellent start for those without a 3rd party plug-in.

Thanks IBM!
