I would classify both of those documents as "can't live without". You should also download iSphere plugin.

I just answered this for someone else so here's my take.

The simple answer for most people is that you want the single user license version i.e. the $1,030 version.

The $835 version is a non-renewable license. What that means is that you are purchasing the software with a 1 year support contract _but_ after the year there is no support, no updates, no nothing. You can continue to use it for however long you like but it won't be updated. Vern Hamburg (I think) calculated that it was an OK "value" if you made sure you were up-to-date when your support expired and could live with being out of date for 18 months or so before buying another and starting over. At an "out of date" period of 12 months it is pretty much a wash and depends on whether they raise the maintenance costs at a higher rate than the price of the base product.

The $1,030 version is updatable as long as you maintain service which is the usual 30% I think.

You do _not_ want the expensive floating license. That is for companies that have maybe 20 developers all of who do some RPG development at some time but rarely more than (say) 8 of them at any one time. You buy 8 licences and there is a central license server on the box.

By the way - don't buy before you need to - the trial is fully functional and lasts (I think) for 60 days.

Hi All,

I recently signed up for this thread so if has been discussed I apologize. I tried searching but got mixed results.

I am the only IBMi developer here (for now) and want to get RDi.
What version of the license do you recommend?

There is 3 different RPG versions ranging from $835 to $1,810.

I do not think I need the java or egl version.

Thanks!!
