The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

I've been experiencing this problem at times and decided to post a message about it since it's happening again today.
When I start RDi (V9.1), the workspace opens up with no issue; that is, it displays correctly with the last chosen perspective and the different tabs (views). But when I do my first function it just sits there. Not every time. An example: I request to do an IBM i Search and search for a string in some source members. That window works, but as soon as I click the Search button and it goes off to search for the string, it doesn't go any further. Meanwhile, I note that in the lower right corner of the workspace, there is an "Initializing Projects" displayed. When I open up the Progress tab, there is a task labeled "Initializing Projects" which never seems to go away and is interfering or blocking the search task. If I click on the red square it then appends "(Cancel Requested)", but again never goes away. At this point my only recourse is to forcibly end RDi, after which I get a Java window with a long list of items and a big error number, usually negative.
I've had this also happen when doing any task (not just search) when starting up RDi. On some occasions I will see "Initializing Projects" for a few moments, then it goes away, and RDi works without any problems. But something is causing this to stick sometimes and makes RDi virtually useless.
I don't know if there is a configuration issue (Windows, Preference) to address this given I don't really use the Projects part...??? But I also note that there might be a System i component which RDi talks to that might be giving it grief. Something like a QZDASOINIT job in the QUSRWRK subsystem. I've tried ending that job as well and sometimes that seems to clear it up. Sometimes not, and my only recourse is to reboot the PC and then RDi works again.
Anyone have any feedback they can contribute to help me figure out what's going on?
