I'm guessing that this didn't work because when you converted the
standard /Copy book you included an end-ds;

This wasn't an issue in fixed form as there was no end-ds; - it was
implied by the start of something else.

So the "cure" is either revert to fixed form for the standard /Copy, or
to remove the end-ds - but of course you will have to manually add it
back each time you use it.
