Yep, your solutions were my thoughts as well but I was hoping against
hope that there was another "work around".

butneed add-on definitoins

I'm guessing that this didn't work because when you converted the
standard /Copy book you included an end-ds;

This wasn't an issue in fixed form as there was no end-ds; - it was
implied by the start of something else.

So the "cure" is either revert to fixed form for the standard /Copy, or
to remove the end-ds - but of course you will have to manually add it
back each time you use it.

We have a copy book that maps portions of the RPG PGMINFO DS (the

There are times when I need data from the PSDS that is not mapped in
our copy book. We do not map the entire section (although I would
like to do that since we map past the 80 byte "performance" boundary
anyway and the system essentially brings in most all the PSDS data)
for reasons I do not remeber.

I was testing out a situation where I converted a version of our PSDS
copybook to free format d-specs and then attempted to tack on an
additional sub field. I had suspicions that this would not work and I
was correct.

So I am wondering without needing to re-work our PSDS and other RPG
INFDS copy books is there a way to tack on additional sub fields for
free form data structures? Mostly, in case we decide to go with
converting our copy book DS's so we can prepare ourselves for
additional work if its needed.

What I do with fixed format PSDS to get additional sub fields...
