I don't think any of these tools recognize logical files as indexes -
I think the "explorer" in Data Development perspective sees them as
views, no index.

Until something better comes along. Toad and Squirrel must won't cut
it, either, as they really know nothing about IBM i.


What the client tooling sees is what the SQL catalog VIEW queries or respective "API" invocations reveal. The SYSINDEXES catalog VIEW has selection specifically including only database files identified by the System Database Cross-Reference (DBXREF) as an INDEX; i.e. in the WHERE clause is the predicate:
... AND IX.DBXATR = 'IX'
