When I first installed DS after RDi, it seemed to have messed up my help text settings - it's as if DS took over.

So I took it off and won't reinstall anytime soon, I don't think.

I have tried the Data Development perspective, and it seems adequate for some stuff, like displaying table data and even modifying it.

I don't think any of these tools recognize logical files as indexes - I think the "explorer" in Data Development perspective sees them as views, no index.

And I don't think DS is much better in that regard.

I'll mostly stick with the support in Navigator.

Until something better comes along. Toad and Squirrel must won't cut it, either, as they really know nothing about IBM i.

Cheers
Vern

Has anyone else experienced this:

I have RDI installed on my PC. The help desk installed it using IBM Installation Manager (IM). They also used IM to download and install my V9.0.1 upgrade. Then, about one week ago, I asked them to install IBM Data Studio, which installed just fine.

However, now when IM is started, IM only sees that I have IBM Data Studio installed and no longer sees that I have Rational installed. Is that normal, or is that a bug? I would think that IM should see everything that IM can manage, regardless of the order products are installed, or am I thinking too much?
