Spoke too soon I guess.

Loaded the PDT tooling - reloaded RDI and boom - HTML support now causes errors. An HTML file that was open in the editor causes "No editor descriptor for id org.eclipse.jst.pagedesigner.PageDesignerEditor" error to appear instead of the source. No option any longer to use either of the HTML editors. Looks like PDT killed all the existing associations without adding anything.

<Sigh>

Yup - that's what worked for me Ken - I feel next week's blog coming on ...

I found this page http://www.htmlgoodies.com/html5/other/create-an-static-html5-web-project-in-eclipse.html a bit basic as I have used projects before but it did point out the various HTML templates available.

This second part http://www.htmlgoodies.com/html5/tutorials/working-with-html5-in-eclipse-juno.html was more useful in that it pointed out that even though there is an HTML template that I shouldn't waste time looking for HTML5 components in the palette - for some reason they still haven't done that part. But the minimal drag-drop support is pretty good for getting a bunch of buttons, form fields, etc. on the screen.

On the whole better than nothing and seems stable enough but I'll be looking for others too.

P.S. For anyone else like me who had been trying to find PDT (for PHP development) it shows up in the list of components for Juno as per the earlier info on finding the HTML components. Haven't tried this version yet but will post here my findings if anyone is interested.

Jon,

I used that "Juno Repository" and installed the Eclipse Web Developer Tool too...

Then I had to go to file associations:
window>Preference>General>editors>Files Associations
File type: *.html
Web Page Editor (default)

And now finally, since using the "Web Page Editor" I get the Two tabs:
"Design"
"Preview"

Noticed that Java developer capability was not enabled so did that and relaunched. Still no HTML options. Even checked file associations - no HTML editors.

As before followed the instructions on http://lizusefulstuff.blogspot.ca/2012/07/how-to-add-html-editor-for-eclipse.html and both editors appeared and work just fine.

Still no sign of any wizards for any web by stuff.

Interesting.

That was in fact the first thing that I had tried and it just opened up the regular editor. I also looked under Capabilities and saw nothing useful.

Now that I have installed the Web Tools Platform stuff as per Trevor's pointer I have both "HTML Editor" and "Web Page Editor" available and both work.

I see nothing in the General -> Capabilities about web wizards. In fact nothing about web anything.

Susan's RDi is a little more pristine than my copy so I'll see what hers looks like.

Hi Jon
When I right click on a local .html file in Rdi, and select Open With
- I see HTML Editor as an option. The default is LPEX, but if you
Open With something else, the default will be changed from then on.

You can enable Web Wizards under
Window->Preferences->General->Capabilities
- not sure what this does as even with out that, I see under
File->New-> Other... a whole folder under Web of things you can
create. This is not unique to Rdi and I encourage reading up on WTP
For example

Follow up.

I must be looking for a how to enable the feature I think. I managed
to hook to the Eclipse site for the Eclipse Web Tools Platform but it
simply informed me that everything was already installed.

I'm trying to install a WYSIWYG HTML editor in RDi but can't locate one.

The stuff I have found on the Eclipse web site all says that it is
already part of all current Eclipse packages - but I don't see it in
my
9.0.1 setup.

Is there a separate download location or am I just missing how to
enable
an existing feature.
