That could well explain the problem.
Preferences->Help->Content should have 2 URLs
Rational Developer for i = http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/iadthelp/v9
Local = http://127.0.0.1:63650/help
The local one may depend on your install somewhat. But the remote one
should work once you fix the URL.

Dumb question before I submit a PMR.
In the preferences page where you select remote and/or local help and which
has priority, should there be any URLs in there? I have none.
Thanks.

Hi Darren,
Yes, you are quite correct, if you take the path to remove the complete
C:\Users\<userid>\.eclipse directory then you will have to re-install any
added 3rd party plugins. With the work-arounds that we have proposed
*should* be avoided. We're still working to figure out why it does not\darren

I found it necessary to delete C:\Users\darren\.eclipse and C:\User
\.metadata as a workaround to the corrupted help files. Thesedirectories
are rebuilt during the startup, but you do LOSE OTHER PLUGINS that mightbe
installed, requiring a reinstall.editor

Mike,
I updated and still show the same path name of
C:\Users\<username>\.eclipse\org.eclipse.platform_4.2.0_2106402103\
When I go to the Preferences > Help I see 2 Content listings. When I
click on one I get a message window with the text "The currently
page contains invalid values" - When I click on the 2nd "CONTENT" in thethe
list I get the same message. If I click on the "Local Help Updater" in
list I get a set of prompts that look normal. When I click back onresults.
"CONTENT" heading I get a display but I can't do anything with it.
This happens with both the current workspace and a new one I created.
I end and restart with the -clean option and I get the exact same
site
I downloaded the trial from the developers page and used the Installation
manager to update from 9.0 to 9.0.1
Any thoughts on what I might do next? I can uninstall and re-install if
you believe that might help.
Thanks!

Hi Jim,
That is odd. I have RDI 9.0 installed from the DeveloperWorks trial
tothen updated with 9.0.1 downloaded from Fix Central so it should be the
same as what you have. However I do also have RDz and RBD 9.0.1 but I
would expect them to use the same level of the help system as RDI.
The local help would not connect probably because it is not configured
RDIrun by default so that part of the result is not unexpected. You maywish
to go into the help preferences at Help > Content and make sure that
stillremote help is enabled and pointing to "
http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/iadthelp/v9" and that local help is
disabled. This may require restarting RDI.
If you try a new workspace what is the outcome in that case? If it
Technicalfails then you may wish to restore the plugin settings in your user
directory

Mike,
I tried this and when restarting RDi was prompted that "Help was not
installed" and presented two options, work without help and use the
havehelp updater. I tried the local help updater, and received a messagethat
it could not connect.
The only difference is one in the path name of the first path. You
aother
number 2139427097 there and my install shows 2106402103.
Does that make a difference?

For anyone still concerned ...
I have a work-around for this issue.
Warning: If you have added infocenters to your help preferences
2139427097than the ones that are automatically added then you will have to addthem
again after following this work-around for this issue in RDI 9.0.1.
Prep: close any running instances of RDI 9
First Step: Rename the directory
C:\Users\<your-userid>\.eclipse\org.eclipse.platform_4.2.0_
9.0.1\configuration\com.ibm.ut.help.common-original\configuration\com.ibm.ut.help.common\
to
C:\Users\<your-userid>\.eclipse\org.eclipse.platform_4.2.0_2139427097
\org.eclipse.help.base.prefs
Second Step: Rename the directory
<workspace>\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.runtime\.settings
\org.eclipse.help.base.prefs-originalto
<workspace>\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.runtime\.settings
(or just create a new workspace)
Complete: restart RDI 9.0.1 and again enjoy your F1 help goodness!
If any of the above is unclear or if it does not resolve the RDI
bringingF1Technical
help issue for you please let us know.
All the best, Mike

We are wondering if anyone else is experiencing this? Has anyone

BTW, a cool thing in 9.0.1 is that F1 on opcodes in free form, now
