But, for people who have barely tried Rational Developer, the answer could be YES!

Out of approximate 12-15 developers, only 4 use Rational Developer at my company...

In my opinion, SEU was never a good editor, it was only barely usable.
And not because it was green - I used the XEDIT mainframe editor on a
green screen in the 1980s and it BLEW AWAY SEU.

But that is neither here nor there. I've given up trying to get people
to use RDP. If they prefer SEU, then they will find or even invent
reasons to use SEU. I'm not going to speculate on /why/ one would
prefer to use SEU. I simply accept that this is so, and move on.
People who want to use RDP get plenty of support from me.

PS. A newbie (to RDP) is going to Common in September. I told that person that they should take the Intro Class to RDp/RDi at Common. They are really excited at the opportunity to attend Common. Wish I could go to myself. I have never been able to attend Common myself...
They got RDP installed on the work PC, but only fired it up, when I held their hand to show some pointers. I get the "Very nice", but don't have time to learn this "new fangle thing". Too many deadlines at the moment...

Maybe one day, my company will send me to Common! It is on my "bucket-List". <grin>

COMMON is a great place to learn and to see what your colleagues
elsewhere in the midrange world are doing. Recommended.

As someone who remembers when SEU was no more reliable than RDi is (back on the S/38), I just shake my head at things like this. Would these people be happier with dumb terminals than they are with PCs?

I try to push Rational Developer to my fellow Developers. And sadly, with these stability issues, it SOURS them on RDP/RDI immediately....

A few have already gone back to "RELIABLE" SEU. Because they encounter one little glitch, and I get the "See that is why I don't use it..."
<Big Frown>

It used to be that IBM was "Trailing Edge Technology", it wasn't released until it was reliable.
(In General...)

For now, I have gone back to RDP 8, because I don't have all these little issues. It seems to be mostly little issue with Eclipse 4.2, rather than RDI.

I for one refuse to go back SEU, except for little test programs under 10-lines of code...
<LOL> I still use SEU about 1% of the time... <grin>
