I reported a similar issue a while ago where it would recognize *N (upper case) but not *n (lower case).
It got fixed, I think a few releases ago.
I just tried it in 8.5.1 and I did not encounter a problem.
dspobjd &lib/*all *pgm output(*outfile) outfile(qtemp/pgms) outmbr(*n *add)
