It seems that this CTL+SHIFT+A question comes up quite a bit. Is there a reason that RDp is delivered with this conflict/issue built in?

Peter,

I happen to remap mine to CTRL+SHIFT+Q, because I had problems with the Cntrl+shift+A....

I had to remove the "Quick Difference" function, which I don't use, so NO BIGGIE for me...

Anyway, that worked for me, so I got use to that keystroke....

Here is one article that explains it pretty well:
http://www.mcpressonline.com/programming/dev-tools/practical-rdpi-fixing-the-open-member-dialog-feature.html

WDSC--> RDI --> RDP 8.5
:)

I also remap other keys:
F5=Resume/Play
F10=Step-Over
F11=Step-INTO
Shift+F11=Step-Out

F3=Find Next, like other text editors, Notepad++, Foxit PDF Reader, etc...
Shift+F3=Find Previous

Cntrl+] to find matching Bracket, logic, "(", IF/Select/DO/DOU/DOW, etc...
Cntrl+Shift+M=Add monitor Statement (left as default, but remove the CSM for matching brackets)

Great thing about an I.D.E. customize it for your OWN PREFERENCES!
<Cool> :)

I have just installed RDP 8.5 after using WDSC 7 for quite awhile. I'm use to using CTL+Shift+A to edit or browse a source member using the lpex editor.
However in RPD 8.5 there is a conflict and I get another small box at the bottom of the screen where I have to select between Open a Plug in Artifact or Open a member in remote systems Lpex editor.
It says to use ctl+shift+L to select preferences but it isn't immediately obvious to me what to do in the preferences.

When I've done the Unbind thing for co-workers (and myself), somehow I unbound ctrl-shift-a from all actions, which meant I had to rebind it. Your message didn't imply the re-binding to the Member Open. Was I doing something different/wrong?

I bet you weren't expecting to get an answer this late at night :-)

After hitting Ctrl-Shift-L twice (the first time shows other shortcuts
available) you will be taken to the preferences page for General->Keys (of course you can get there by using the Window menu as well) Above the table there is an entry field that says in grey "type filter text". So you want to find the conflicting setting and disable it. So type "Artifact". The second entry "Open Plug-in Artifact" is the offending one, so click on it. Click on the "Unbind Command" button. You can now hit OK and be back in business as usual.

Have a good day, down under.

I'm using WDSC 7.0, and was wondering if there are any options for
formatting embedded SQL statements? It would be nice to have them look
pretty without a lot of typing, especially when I copy/paste from a
STRSQL session.

Thanks!

subject: [WDSCI-L] RDP 8.5.0

I am a recent convert to RDP (well, trying to be). There are a number of
things that puzzle me. Today, when I start RSE I keep receiving java
errors. After I respond with OK (the only option available) the message
goes away and nothing appears to have changed.

I thought I would check for any updates to the product. I went under HELP
and then CHECK FOR UPDATES. Things churn for a bit and then a screen comes
up and tells me that I don't have any software sites selected and would I
like to select some. I respond that I would and up comes a lengthy list of
website addresses. Do I select them all? Or a specific one? Or some other
combination?

I thought I would look at the help screen to see if it would help me.
Selecting HELP gives me a screen with a search box in the upper left
corner. I entered some search text and pressed GO and the screen came back
telling me it was INDEXING and that this would happen only once. A green
bar in the lower right corner of the screen went back and forth a few times
and then the same blank screen I started with was presented with DONE on
the status line. Entering any other test resulted in DONE being displayed
almost immediately with no results.

So I ended the help screen and went back into it. Typed in my search text
and again the INDEXING bit came up and it's been sitting that way for about
30 minutes or so, the green bar in the lower right corner about half way
across its display box and not moving.

Can anyone give a newby a hand here?

(Running under Windows 7 64-bit. RDP was loaded about 2 weeks ago, no
updates)

Thanks,

Vic

I turned mine off; the options were a tad too limited to fit the idea of
what I like to see. Windows>Preferences. Type SQL in the filter box at
the top of the navigation tree on the left side.

Kurt,
When I tried again, I experienced what you did, that the unbind applies to
all associated commands, so you have to reassociate the Member Open with
Ctrl-Shift-A.
Thanks for catching that. I guess there are disadvantages to responding
that late at night :-)
