Enabled the option.

Opened member. No outline. No blobs on left or right of member. No
refresh button available.

Closed outline view. Window | Show View | Outline to display it again
because this makes the refresh button available (once).

Press Refresh. Outline is generated, and displayed. No blobs on left or
right of member.

Close member.

Open member.

No outline. No blobs on left or right of member. No refresh button
available.

While I was typing this email, the outline then appeared (4 minutes after
opening the member).
So I guess if you wait long enough it might appear -- might not.

When you get an empty Outline view or when you make a change that is not
shown in the Outline view, please check for annotations in the editor.

These are lines which are giving the new parser problems and causing the
Outline view to not appear/refresh. They appear on left and right sides of
the editor. On the right side, there is an overall view and it will show
little yellow rectangles you can click on to go to a line with a problem.
On the left side, it will show little yellow triangles for lines currently
showing that have a problem.

We really appreciate all the feedback and please report all problems to
support.

Thanks,
Eric

I tried Kurt's suggestion (clearing RemoteSystemsTempFiles\(our power
system)\ QSYS.LIB) but this had no effect.
I then turned off automatic update as suggested by Stuart. I was able
to
generate the outline in this way. But when I turned automatic update
back
on and reopened the source the outline view was once again empty.
I did find in the archives similar problems by Tommy Holden and Paul
Therrien so if they have a solution or more to add please let me know.
I
can work with the old outline view but it would be nice to be able to
take
full advantage of the new version.

Thanks,

Robert Rogerson

I just cranked it up uing my existing workspace as well. I have had the
same outline issue only with "Automatically update" turned on. Turned it
off, works fine. When I had the issue, I tried clearing the cache to no
avail -- still, even after verifying with updating the cache I still got
no
outline ( I even tried typing some D-specs to see if it would
"automatically update" but it did not). I DID however see it work once --
but never again.

Hi Robert,

I did the same thing, pointing RDP 8.5 to a copy of my RDP 8.03 workspace.

I have not had that problem. You could try clearing your cache to see if
that helps. One thing I did when I brought my workspace over for 8.5 was
that I deleted all the source stored in RemoteSystemsTempFiles\(our power
system)\ QSYS.LIB - not sure if that had any effect.

Subject: [WDSCI-L] RDP 8.5 Outline view empty...

Hi All,

I've checked the archives and not found any mention of this problem.

I just installed RDP 8.5 and made a copy of my workspace from RDP 8.03
to
RDP 8.5.
When I open a member (SQLRPGLE) I see the Outline view but it is empty.
The refresh Outoine view icon is grayed. I tried the menu option
Source->Refresh Outline View but nothing happens.
I've also tried Source->Verify (Prompt)->and checked Refresh Cache but
this also did nothing.

Does anyone have any other ideas or have experienced this?

Thanks,

Robert Rogerson
