Paul,
Thanks for the link, I took the time to vote for this.
Not sure if an additional RFE would be in order, but another,
related enhancement, would be to be able to restrict find/replace
to the current sub-procedure - something I found useful
in VB and VBA.
Also: thank you for the brief tutorial on regular expression searches.

I am pretty sure that this is not possible in RDP at the moment, but there is an RFE that looks like it wants the same thing: <
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=11119>
A possible workaround you could use is the following key presses to find the subroutine/subprocedure's name using a regular expression search:
- Press CTRL-Q (set quick mark)
- Press ESC (LPEX command-line), type (without quotes) "findText up noWrap regularExpression begsr|^.....P.................B", press ENTER [Take note of the subroutine or procedure's name]
- Press ALT-Q (find quick mark - go back to your marked position in the source.)
If the search doesn't work then you are in the MAIN subroutine, which is something else I've always wished that the overview would show.
That works in RPG(LE), but you might have to change the findText string for COBOL (I do not know COBOL at all). Just in case you don't know, the findText string means find the previous "begsr" or find the previous beginning of a procedure (where in RPG a procedure's beginning is usually defined by a P in column 6 and a B in column 24.)

Hi guys,
Is there a preference or anything that will allow me to see where I am in the outline according to the current line in the source?
I am doing lots of find/replace in a very complicated Cobol program and after I do a find it would be very handy to be able to glance at the outline to see where abouts in the program the found string line is. Is this currently possible?
I have had a search in the archives but couldn't find anything about it.
I am using RDPi 8.0.3.
Best regards,
