David,

I recently upgraded from RDp 7.6 to 8.0 on my Windows 7 laptop.

I have taken the defaults and installed both versions and the Installation Manager in the default directory [C:\Program Files (x86)].

Why do you say that these should be installed in someplace other than the default? What issues does it cause, and is there anything I can do about it now other than removing and reinstalling everything?

If you're running Win 7, it's important to install both installation manager and the applications in a directory other than the default (C:\Program Files).
