My thought process with RDP 8.0 is to use a single i project per library.

So theoretically you would only work on 1 version of program1.rpg at the same time and then commit changes as you go along. When you checkout the project you would probably checkout tall members for ease of use.

You could still check out individual members to secondary i projects as well, but there's more than just the source member to think about. Looks like there are members in the i project that maintain metadata on the source members, source file size, etc.....

What you are showing as project1/project2/project3 I would be thinking of each as an i project/library.

Maybe we will still need to think about the streamlined SVN i project because it does start to sound a little kludgy :-)

We're going to spend a day with IBM soon, so maybe we'll have clarity after that.

So I have

/trunk/project1/program1.rpg
/trunk/project2/program1.rpg
/trunk/project3/program1.rpg

But in reality I only have 1 program1.rpg.
How do I make sure I check out the correct object? Do I just have to remember that project3 was the most recent? places I have worked tend to have at least monthly releases, and multiple projects per release. I am unable to picture how this would work without creating a whole lot of confusion. I want to be able to check out from one place so I don't have to worry about whether I am getting the right copy.

I do one repository, multiple projects all the time. ]

We have a root of:
branches
tags
trunk

then under trunk we have

/trunk/project1
/trunk/project2
