Hi Jeff,
Jenny has dug into the details for you.
It turns out that your RDi SWMA had expired and so you were charged to
reinstate your SWMA and then the upgrade was free.
One of the problems with purchasing software through the hardware
configurator channel is that it does not notify you when your Rational SWMA
expires. We are looking for technical solutions to this.
In the mean time, make a note that your current RDp SWMA expires on
4/29/2012, so you will want to renew before then, in order to save money.

So does that mean I shouldn't be having to pay the BP for it?  Or because I
recently agreed to pay the BP for it?

My trust and confidence level aren't very high right now.

You're telling me that a display of installed licensed programs on that
machine, 10366DE, should show 5733-RDG and/or 5770-RDI?  Neither show up.

What I have are:

5770WDS   IBM Rational Development Studio for i
5770WDS   Application Development ToolSet
5770WDS   ILE RPG
5770WDS   RPG/400
5770WDS   ILE COBOL
5770WDS   Workstation Tools - Base

So therefore it's on my install media?  Am I entitled to the above and
the 5733-RDG and 5770-RDI?

FWIW, when I got all my license keys from the BP, there are none in
regards to this product.

BP should be able to log into ESS to download the activation kit

Let me know if there is anything else I could help. Thanks.

Please check and let me know.  If we don't have Rational SWMA, give
me details on it so I can tell the BP where to go (think nice
here).

Thanks for helping with this.

Depending on what the answer is, it's beginning to sound as if the
issue is ignorance on the part of the BP.

Hi Jeff

This is what might have happened.  You have RDi.  You
evaluated RD Power.
You now want to upgrade to RD Power from RDi.  You have
full SWMA. but it
is the IBM i SWMA, and  not the RDi SWMA which is
different.  The BP could
be correct when he told  you that you do not have an
active RDi SWMA.

If you have an active SWMA with RDi, your upgrade to RD
Power V8 is a
no-charge upgrade.  If you do not have an active SWMA
with RDi, the upgrade
order will charge you a re-instatement fee.

Jenny Wong is the world-wide expert on this and she can
help to verify your
entitlement to RDi if you can provide the customer
number and the machine
serial number.

Edmund,

Correct except for one thing.  The BP said I was not
entitled to RDp 8.0.
I
will be billed by the BP for it.  Because I was on full
SWMA, I was hoping
that would not be the case.  But that's been discussed
here before that
SWMA
does not apply to Rational, if I recall correctly.

I also have a slight concern that the packing list(s)
refer to Japanese.
