Xuan,
Thanks for the response. Since I compile my programs as *SOURCE then it
will use the LPEX editor. Will the 'reuse editor' option cause debug to
use open for edit version of the source in LPEX as opposed to opening up a
new editor in browse mode?

Thanks

Bryce,

For recent release of RDp, we use whatever the registered editor in
eclipse to display your source for *SOURCE view. So, if your source of
the debugger is an RPGLE member, debugger will use Remote System Lpex
editor (the one with a Pen icon) to display it. Debugger editor (the one
with a bug icon) will only be used for *LISTING view or *STATEMENT view.
You should be able to set breakpoints on both editors.

When debugger needs to display the source member from source view using
Remote System Lpex editor, it will check if this source member has been
opened for editor or browse yet. If yes, it will reuse the opened editor
(could be in edit or browse mode). If not, the debugger will load the
source to the editor, but in browse mode.

Well I restarted RDP after double checking all my preferences and it now
recognizes my breakpoints. YIPEE! However, once I'm done debugging and I

select my iEdit perspective to leave the Debug perspective I have to close

and reopen my source member to edit it. It shows the little pencil next
to the source name like its a source editor except it behaves like a debug

editor...you can't edit it.

I can't get debug to pull up my code in a debug editor when my sep is hit
It just uses the editor window I have open. I need the debug window so
that breakpoints will work. I've checked the debug settings and I told it

not to reuse the editor. Anybody have any ideas as to what I'm missing or

what preference I need to set?

[WDSCI-L] RDP 8.0 debugging.

Ok, so I downloaded the RDP 8.0 Trial. I haven't used any of the RD*
products to date, so this is my first foray away from WDSC 7. I have been

pretty happy so far. The most noticable difference is the speed. I'm not

sure if there is any speed improvement from RDP 7.x to 8 but from WDSC
there definitely is.

My issue is that when I'm using a SEP to debug it won't stop at my break
points. I set the SEP and run the program. I can then step through the
program without any problems. It opens up the debug perspective, but it
reuses the open source member for stepping. It doesn't open a debug
source. I think I saw a box in the preferences that causes this which is
fine, but by no breaking?

Am I missing something here?
