I am sorry to disappoint you Jerry.
There is not UIM support in the Screen Designer, it strictly works with
DDS.

I don't suppose it does UIM menus, does it? (Hoping against hope.)

Screen Designer does have a Preview functionality that is far more robust
than CODE Designer It will take into account keyword that affect the
combination of records on the screen, such as CLRL, SLNO, OVERLAY, RMVWDW,
etc.
It will also allow you to specify buffer data for your fields and
indicators on a per record basis (even for subfile records).
However this is all done locally on your display and does use the actual
5250 runtime like SDA does. There are some very old keywords like
PUTRETAIN that it does not support.
I think it will take care of the vast majority of testing needs out there
and it is certainly a lot more usable than SDA OPTION(3)

Screen Designer and CODE Designer also work with system style menus, in
that you can customize the DDS as long as you don't change the buffer
signature by adding/removing/changing the input field.
It does not produce the MSGF that contains the commands that the menu will
run, nor does it execute the CRTMNU command for you. In this sense SDA
OPTION(2) does the job from end to end, but Screen Designer will do the
actual screen design piece for you, quite nicely.

I will copy our product manager to track this requirement.

I do not have the RDp product yet, but when V8 comes out (soon) I was told
that we would be getting it.

Does the Screen Designer have a Test Display File function like SDA?
Also, can the Screen Designer create/modify Menus like SDA?

If not, then you would still need SDA unless you never used system style
menus or did not need to be able to test a display file without having the
program available to plug in all sorts of data and conditions.

Thanks,

Jeff Young
