The SoftLanding plugins are great tools - my problem with their merge tool is, I think, losing something in there with the merge. I think it has to do with change date or sequence numbers - something weird like that. So I've stopped even considering their merge tool. The compare tool is very nice, though, and I use it a lot. I also use their spooled file plugin.

The thing I like best about option 55 is the split-screen, where I get to choose what to merge. This is important in our shop, for reasons of managing different levels of the same code by different developers. It works for us, it's probably not for everyone.

I'm not sure what I said about relative efficiency - maybe another post included in one of mine. I too find the multiple sources to be a tremendous benefit. I've come to depend on it.

Just to briefly summarize - I do almost all my production work in WDSC+. I do most very simple, single function, CL test programs (testing a new technique or API call) in SEU. Maybe I could do differently - I do end up copying test code into production in WDSC+ eventually. But this works for me very well right now.

Hey, let's have a contest of the most members open - I have 10 to 15 on a regular basis. And being able to drag an editor and docking it to the side is just fantastic. No one has mentioned THAT very cool feature, as I see it.

Sorry Vern - but I have to disagree - the Softlanding plug-in's merge facility is way better than option 55.

I also disagree with you about the overall relative efficiency of the two - I know I'm at least 25% better with RSE than SEU - but maybe that's because I'm a lousy typist and frequently working on 5 or 6 sources at a time. Just can't do that effectively in SEU.
