Hi Buck,

You could try the WDSCi outline.  In the outline, under Global Definitions, there is a subsection called Indicators.

However whether the outline will work on RPGIII code or not, I'm not so certain.  Could have swore I tried to outline an old program a while ago and it didn't work - whether the reason was that it was RPGIII or not, I don't know.  Worth a try.

I'm an RPG programmer.  I work with code that has been in existence for
quite some time.  That code has indicators in it.  I've always been
somewhat baffled that I can't search for an indicator, or group of them.
 This wasn't so bad in RPG III when a line of code looked like NMR 01
33... at least then I could scan for 'NMR 01 33' and come close to the
spot I'm looking for.

In RPG IV, this is painful because AN/OR indicators span lines:
C  NMR
CAN 01
CAN 33...

I have not found a way to use a regular expression to search across line
breaks, which would help a lot.  No, the indicator cross reference isn't
particularly useful when I'm looking for NMR 01, when separately, both
indicators appear on hundreds of lines separately and together but only
in one block of code do they occur as NMR 01.

Yes, I know how horrible indicators are - I'm working with matching
record.  Tell it to my vendor who refuses to use my surrogate keys
forcing me to match on customer name.

I'm not really interested in starting a 'how to fix the RPG code'
thread; I'd rather find out what others have done to search for
indicators with Lpex.  WDSC 7.0.0.8 here.  I just had a thought: does
RDi have a 'search for indicators' function?

I've been alternating between bookmarks and specially formated (easy to
search for) comments, but hoping for something better.
