You are correct. I set up my Alt-F key to do a blockFill in user key
actions. I had forgotten about that. I liked that as much as I do fills.
That way I don't have to grab the mouse and right click and all that
slowness.

right-click L E does open up the little command line, where you type
whatever will fill - can be multiple character, actually, and is
especially nice if you want the same string in multiple columns.

My favorite way is to highlight the comment column using alt-r, arrow

down

or up to select the lines to comment out, then use alt-f (fill) and key

an *

and press enter. That fills the selected area with the character(s)
entered.
