Just type the L, which will select Selected. Then E which selects Fill
Selection. Just a keyboard way of selecting menu options -- notice the
underlines characters in the menu correspond to the keys you are
pressing.

A little note:
* If you use this a lot (great for mod marks), I suggest you add a User
Key Action (Windows, Preferences, Lpex Editor, User Key Actions) to map
Alt-F to blockFill. Comes in very handy.

I tried doing this and I did the Alt R and Alt R to select the
rectangle.
I right click inside the shaded rectangle and I get a drop down menu.
