Working from home, and network performance, is something to review when
deciding where you will keep the workspace.

I had always heard that WDSCi runs poorly over the network. Is this true
with you, or have you found the difference negligible?

We point our workspace to a network drive which gets backed up nightly. If
the workspace gets corrupted we restore from the network backup.

So I tried the RDi trial. Then I wanted it to have my filters and
such. So I exported my preferences from WDSCi, and imported them in
RDi. Hm, nothing happened. Ended up closing RDi and re-opening it,
then it started going through migration. It didn't hit me then, but
by importing preferences, it imported the "Don't prompt workspace"
like I had the Trial doing. And the imported preferences is also
where you specify the workspace apparently, so it converted my 7.01
WDSCi workspace, so now it's gone. Sigh. Wasn't the rule of thumb
to not run from the network? So it didn't get backed up. Now I need
to recreate it all again. I could use RDi until we switch (which
ideally is within 60 days), but probably because my WDSCi pointed to
what's now the RDi workspace, I'm guessing it broke it, because now I
can't open that workspace in RDi either.
I searched the archives about how to import filters, because I had to
do this at my last job, though was unsuccessful. Tried to fumble my
way through it, and fumbled. So this is kind of an awareness email
to others. Don't do as I did.
FWIW: This is what I do. I make a copy of the workspace, then I open
the copy in RDi. This way I can always go back to WDSC and I
can always start over.
