Unfortunately, when running at high resolutions, most CRT monitors (in
my experience) will only run at 60hz refresh rate. Looking at it again,
I can't even run in the highest resolution supported by my video card
1600x1200(High Color). Seems to max out at 1280x1024. WDSC is
functional, but I have to maximize to get enough room for eclipse.

Eric, to get rid of the flicker you can change the frequency of the
monitor to be higher and then it will go away. In Windows XP just right
click on the desktop and select Properties, click the Settings tab,
select the Advanced button, select the Monitor tab, change the drop down
value for the screen refresh rate to be as high as it can be.

Back when I used a CRT I would always get headaches from eye strain
until I changed that value to be higher.

Good thing we've got a "vision plan" in the health benefits package.
Crank the screen resolution to max, try to ignore the flicker and
whine of a crt being pushed to the limit. <g>
