Mike,

Thanks for the input. I'll give this a try and hope for the best.

Subject: Re: [WDSCI-L] WebFacing onDblClick inserting a '?' in a field

Hi Gilbert,

You might get more success with something like
ondblclick="this.value='?';" placed in the HtmlInside Web Setting for
the
field. Maybe even something like onDblClick="<wf:js function=
"setFieldValueAndSubmit"/>('this','?', 'SCREEN'). The parms are the id
of
the field, the field value and the form id. For Web only apps it will
be
SCREEN, if you are using Portal then it would have to be determined
first.

IMHO, I don't think that a double click is the best UI mechanism as some

people have trouble clicking quickly or holding the mouse still. It
would
probably be better for your users to simply put a ? graphic to the right

of the field that they can click on normally to initiate the action.
However, this could be a comment about my sloppy hand-eye coordination
that causes me to double click things unnecessarily because I thought I
missed the first time :-).

Our application uses a ? in a field to launch another program for
Search
and Inquiry functions. Most of the time the '?' follows the field
description on the screen to signify that this is a searchable field.
However, on occasion the '?' will be on the heading for a column of
subfile records.

Has anyone done anything with javascript that will place a character
inside a fields When double clicking in that field occurs. I've done
something similar with 'CF04' and have tried to adapt the following
websetting without success:

A*%%WB 7 FLD <A href=# ondblClick="validateAndSubmit('CF04');"></A
