Re: Trying to update Quantum DB with WDSc 7.0 -- WDSCI-L

I've done a seperate Eclipse install just to use Quantum.

That way, when doing a big SQL update on our files (with triggers for logging purposes), my RSE isn't locked down.

This also means that I can update Quantum to the latest & greatest, without having to worry about eclipse versions.

Thanks for the info. I did a manual download and install and it shows
that I'm on the current version with no problems. I haven't had a
chance to go through the change log to see what may be new but it's
working.

Douglas,

You might not want to use the update feature from WDSC. IIRC,
Quantum's latest version is ahead of WDSC in Eclipse versions and may
not be compatible. We have had a couple of people here pull the latest
version from Quantum using WDSC but it wouldn't run once installed.

I haven't tried this in a very long time but when I started to help a
couple of other developers install this plugin it failed to update.
Has anyone tried this recently (Sept-Nov) time frame? Did it work for
you?

I used the Help->Software Updates->Find and Install->Search for new
features to install, clicked on QuantumDB
(http://quantum.sourceforge.net/update-site) and clicked on Finish. It
ran for a while then came back and gave me the error "Network
connection problems encountered during search" with an "Unable to
access..." message. If someone else has updated or can try it and
succeed then I'll contact our network people and find out if I'm
hitting a firewall.
