Ultra low-cost PC's are an emerging market, particularly in K-12
education.
This is a huge point for what the desktop space will be like in 10 to 15
years. I don't know how fast it will take over in the US, but in emerging
countries it seems to be taking off quite well (based on what I have read).
They even have a specific version of Ubuntu (EdUbuntu) dedicated to this
approach:
http://www.edubuntu.org/. With that said it would be in IBM's
best interest to take strong notes on how well it does in the next couple
years.
