From what I gather JRuby should be able to run on the i now, so it is JDBC which should be quite ok.

I have not looked into it recently, so I might be wrong.
I hadn't thought of that, but I think Joe was looking specifically for integration with an RPG backend. However, for those that haven't split their applications into multiple tiers, this doesn't help. In my case however, our vendor has split it out so it may pay dividends.
Maybe IBM should make an interface to call RPG pgms from Ruby?
