There was significant syntactical change from V6 to V7. I mentioned it, and the response I got was that they just had to do it to support some of the new stuff, like rich UI and Ajax. Pure backwards compatibility can be a curse; just read about how complex Java generics had to be in order to preserve backwards compatibility.The syntax changed on the EGL, especially the handler.
