I don't understand this. Run through the tutorial and you have an
application.

After doing the tutorial I must say that given my experiences with JSF, this
seems a lot easier. I like EGL syntax much better than Java (actually, Java
could probably learn a lot from EGL :-). I think they could hide some of
the jndi/jdbc stuff a little better so RPG developers don't get scared away.
I didn't come across a tutorial yet that has paging, though if I keep
digging I am sure I will find one. Right now I am working on a single
customer list with the last name linked to an edit page.

Stay tuned for more opinions ;-) I won't really know how "easy" EGL is
until I get into a real application scenario, which I may have one coming
down the pipe right now.

Couple of questions to anyone that can answer them:
- Is the generated Java code compliant to all the different specs out there
(i.e. J2EE) and are there any IBM runtime jars (or other files) that are
required? So theoretically I could run my EGL (read generated Java) on any
Tomcat server?

- Is it possible to compile the EGL code into Java without RBDe? Just
thinking through IBM's history of dropping technologies and wondering if
they ended up dropping EGL if the community could (or would be able to)
facilitate the continuation of the product.
