Larry, I can understand why you're unsure of how to add plugins to WDSC. I found it rather tricky at first too. The project maintainers should have a README file somewhere in the archive you downloaded that explains how to install the plugin. If there is such a document, I'd suggest following that instead of what I've written below.

FWIW, here's how I've installed plugins that are available in archive (.zip, .bz2, .tar.gz, etc.) format. I've walked through as many steps as I can without an actual plugin to install, but I might have missed a step after the extension location is created.

1. Download the plugin archive.

2. Extract the archive. I prefer to put each non-IBM plugin in its own directory. In my case, that's C:/WDSCv7/<plugin-name>

3. In WDSC, go to 'Help -> Software Updates -> Manage Configuration'. This will bring up the Product Configuration dialogue.

4. Right-click the left-hand pane, and choose 'Add -> Extension Location'.

5. Browse to the directory where you extracted the plugin archive.

IIRC, at this point the plugin will be added to the Eclipse configuration, and once you restart the workbench you should be in business. If not, let me know and I'll find a plugin I want to try so I can refresh my memory on anything I've missed.

HTH,
Adam
