Simply being able to select Ctrl+S to get
the source on the i5 is nice, and then I click the compile button in the
header of WDSC (which executes the most recent compile command again)
and I
am ready to run/debug the app.

Ctrl+C also runs the previous compile command the same as clicking the
compile button.

If I were to do the same from iSeries
Projects I believe I first would need to sync back up to the i5 and then
compile, is that correct?

Yes, but you can do it in one step by right-clicking the member you want
to compile in the iSeries Projects tree view, then choosing Remote Action
-> Compile. To see the results, you still need to right-click the compile
job and do Task Actions -> Retrieve errors.

My approach was going to be to do all editing in the regular RSE way and
at
the end of the day re-checkout everything back down to the iSeries
Project,
and then sync that iSeries Project with SVN. Maybe the better question
is
this - what does iSeries Projects offer me concerning program
development
outside of SVN interactions?

For me, the two main benefits. The biggest is that I can keep track of
all the source I've changed for a given project. I prefer the project
method to creating a filter for each project. The other benefit is the
ability to build the entire project at once, although I tend to work in a
similar method to you - make small changes, test, debug, repeat, so this
is a less important benefit for me. Since we normally do a CRTRPGMOD +
CRTPGM, it can be nice to have the CRTPGM commands in the build CL, so
that I don't forget to do the CRT- or UPDPGM before testing a change.
