I guess I look at it a little differently, but that may be because my
project is on the smaller side. When developing, I am constantly compiling,
running, and debugging my code. Simply being able to select Ctrl+S to get
the source on the i5 is nice, and then I click the compile button in the
header of WDSC (which executes the most recent compile command again) and I
am ready to run/debug the app. If I were to do the same from iSeries
Projects I believe I first would need to sync back up to the i5 and then
compile, is that correct?

My approach was going to be to do all editing in the regular RSE way and at
the end of the day re-checkout everything back down to the iSeries Project,
and then sync that iSeries Project with SVN. Maybe the better question is
this - what does iSeries Projects offer me concerning program development
outside of SVN interactions?

I get the feeling I have a triangle here where my PC is at the bottom and I
have SVN off to the left and the i5 on the right. Currently my focus of
where the "prime version" of source is located is to look at the i5, but I
think my focus needs to change to be on SVN, correct? At least that is how
I would do my Java development.

If you have a moment I would love to hear a simply timeline approach to how
your shop does their development (i.e. editing/compiling/running/debugging)
and then getting it back to SVN (when or how often do you do this?).

Thanks,
Aaron Bartell

Hi Aaron!

That is how version control is suppose to work IMHO. The question is NOT
"where" you edit your source. The question is does this "where" support
checking your sources back into your repository? Obviously the iSeries can't
and that means your are most likely compromising your source tree.
