There's a message somewhere in the archives where someone from IBM said
that the install image would have spanned multiple DVDs, and their image
creation software can't cope with that yet.

If you have the install copied to a network, it isn't that big a jump to
totally automate the process.

IBM has a site for using Installation Manager for a totally automated
deployment (there's even a site on how to push it using Microsoft
Systems Management Server for shops that have that):
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/install/v1m0r0/index.jsp

We used the instructions and had very good success with it.

Subject: [WDSCI-L] WDSC 7 lite version install

We copied the install CDs to our network. I mapped a local drive
letter
to that network share and ran the install. However I did not see an
option to install just the Lite version of WDSC. We did not get the
DVD
in our install packet so I was wondering if that option was only
available on the DVD?

Thanks, Matt
