We just had an issue at work with a firewall dropping inactive
connections after 30 min. WDSC can easily go that long when you're
coding. It seems to have been solved by changing the keepalive interval
(cfgtcp option 3 I think) to 5 min. It defaults to 2 hours.

Hi Everyone,

I'd like to know if anyone has any ideas why my WDSC remote connection keeps
dropping and if there is any way to prevent it. The connection does not seem
to drop when I am on the local network using the exact same configuration as
when I am at a remote network with my laptop. The error number is
"EVFC9104E" and the message reads "TCP/IP network connection to the host was
dropped. This could have been caused by a TCP/IP network outage or the
OS/400 server communication job ending. The previous operation has been
cancelled and the RSE connection Bigblue has been disconnected. Reconnect
the RSE connection to continue working."

Is there a keep-alive feature or a port number that needs to be opened to
keep the connection open? I don't think that the problem is specific to WDSC
though, as I have the similar problem with Navigator.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Milan
