Thanks all who responded.

I tried clearing the caches as multiple people suggested and this seems to
have worked. The outline refresh is down to about 10 seconds.

The only problem that remains is what excuse do I use now for going for a
coffee?

Thanks all...

Rob:

Are the libraries which the program being outlined or verified really big
(have lots of objects)?

Have you been using WDSC7 for a while?

If the answer is yes and yes then you have have run into a caching bug.
The work around is fairly simple. Quoting an e-mail from IBM support:

Try clearing all the cache. From the Window menu,
select Preferences. Go to Remote Systems -> File Cache, and press the
Clear button. Also, in preferences, go to Remote Systems -> iSeries ->
Cache, and clear the cache.
Add to this: Then shut down and restart WDSC, to
also clear the cache objects residing in memory.

I also increase the cache allotments from 50mb to 1024mb. This appears to
retard the process

I'm currently using WDSc 7.0 on a 2.66 GHz Pentium 4 with 1.74 GB of Ram.
Basic editing works okay but if I try other functionality (such as Outline

view refresh) the response is measured in minutes. I have been given the
go
ahead to purchase additional hardware to make this more workable.

My question is if by increasing only the Ram to 3GB will this be a vast
improvement? A colleague has a 3.0 GHz machine with 2.0 GB of Ram and his

response is acceptable. My thought is that WDSc is processor intensive
and
the CPU speed definitely makes a difference. I don't want to purchase
additional Ram when the CPU really should be faster.

Any past experience or advise would be appreciated.
