Bill,

FWIW, I use the Softlanding source compare feature.... I believe that is part
of their Open Source extensions for WDSCi.

The Softlanding tool gives you a nice side-by-side view of the two members. I
think it's much easier to use than the standard RSE compare tools.

hth,
Eric

I figured out this part:

... When I follow these instructions:

Comparing files: To compare a currently opened member to another member,
click Edit > Compare > Compare from the menu bar.

The dialog is painfully long, forcing me to strart at the connection and
drill down. Only the currently openned source member is displayed. The
changes are highlighted in yellow. I don't see the file that I am
comparing to.

The files are "merged" and the changes are color coded. I searched the
documentation on "LPEX and compare" and that is all I came up with.

I think that pink is "removed from the document opened for edit" and
yellow is "in the document being edited and not in the document being
compared to".

Does anyone have documentation on this?

How about the "old fashion" compare (second mean, Compare > Each other)?

Thanks

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

I am trying to compare two RPGLE source members. When I follow these
instructions:

Comparing files: To compare a currently opened member to another member,
click Edit > Compare > Compare from the menu bar.

The dialog is painfully long, forcing me to strart at the connection and
drill down. Only the currently openned source member is displayed. The
changes are highlighted in yellow. I don't see the file that I am
comparing to.

When I follow these instructions:

You can also select two items in the Remote Systems view by holding down
the Ctrl key and clicking the two items. Right-click and select Compare
With > Each Other.

A default compare engine is used which shows the dates and line number
(first 12 bytes of record) as well as the source. The date and sequence
number cause most of the lines not to compare.

Is there anyway to set preferences for General > Compare / Patch to work
better with iSeries source members?

Thanks all!

Bill Blalock
