I think Violaine Batthish posted some information about this quite a while
ago. You might be able to find something in the archives. FWIW, I think
your interpretation was correct.

How about the "old fashion" compare (second mean, Compare > Each other)?

I would recommend the RSE Extensions plugin. Check it out at:
http://www.softlanding.com/websphere/rse.htm. Note that you don't need
Turnover or any other Softlanding tools to use this plugin. The plugin
essentially strips the sequence/date/etc. from the source, and then runs
the usual Eclipse compare tool. There was a discussion on the list some
time ago (involving at least myself and Charles Wilt) about the merits and
weaknesses of various compare tools. You might be interested in reading
it - sorry I don't have a link.
