I agree, but it bugs me that we have to "guess".
I know that I am under pressure on a regular basis to abandon the i5
altogether, and one of my main arguments against that move has been my
development staff and the tools provided by IBM to support the box. We
pay a premium for the 'privilege' of being a System I shop, and things
like WDSc have helped to justify that by making our developers more
productive. Being rock solid reliable is just not enough anymore.
If we lose that edge, IBM may lose Customers. When you are standing at
a crossroads, a roadmap is essential.
